Ever wanted to see your beautiful face twisted and contorted into that of the vicious and genocidal Night King? If the answer is yes, HBO has launched just the for you. Ahead of this Sunday’s Game of Thrones season finale, HBO just dropped the Night King Camera Effect for Facebook.
Using your phone or tablet’s camera, the app quickly transforms your visage into that of the Night King, Jon Snow’s mortal enemy. In the below video, Game of Thrones star Kristofer Hivju (Tormund) gleefully demonstrates the effect for fans.
Per HBO, in order to create the Night King Camera Effect, “the Game of Thrones digital and social media team utilized 3-D scans and textures of the Night King from the show. Creative technology and VFX studio The Mill then stepped in to create a chillingly realistic experience that transforms users into the Night King as he’s seen on screen.” How’s that for authenticity?
The camera effect will also play a sneak peek of a Ramin Djawadi track from Sunday’s episode, cryptically titled “The Army of the Dead.” You can also hear that on the season 7 soundtrack, which is available for digital download today. Additionally, each of the Game of Thrones social media platforms “will be rallying the realm all weekend using #WinterIsHere and giving lucky fans who share their Night King mask videos recognition in the realm.”
So bust out the cameras and turn yourself into the face of evil. And please, don’t let this video of Tormund be foreshadowing anything. Nothing bad can happen to him until he reunites with the big woman.
