Despite the fact the rumor of Bradley Walsh still has not been confirmed by BBC, many news outlets are treating it as confirmed. As they should! Last week, the Doctor Who news dominated the news cycle with early reports of a companion being chosen.
Despite the fact the BBC hasn’t actually confirmed that Walsh is, in fact, the companion, many sites have gone ahead and stopped speculating, expecting that he is, in fact, the true companion.
Let’s see what we can find on this should-be companion.
Just who is Bradley Walsh?
Football
For anyone who doesn’t know, Bradley Walsh has done quite a bit of different activities throughout his life. During school, he was a competitive football player. He played for Brentford, but his career ended when he got a separate ankle fracture after scoring 15 goals in 25 appearances for Dunstable Towns.
He also played for Barnet on loan, Tring Town, Boreham Wood, and Chalfont St. Peter. He also takes part of Soccer Aid, which is when England plays against the rest of the world for charity. He played in 2006, followed by coaching in 2012 and 2016.

Television
Walsh is mainly known for television roles on Law and Order UK, Coronation Street, and various ITV roles.
For Doctor Who fans, he was even an episode of the Sarah Jane Adventures, where he played a villain that fed off of people’s fear. He played a Clown, ringmaster, and the Pied Piper, all in two episodes!
He’s also known to be a Presenter on Game shows, from Wheel of Fortune to the BBC show Pointless. The biggest show he’s known for presenting is The Chase, which he still plans to host while being the companion.
Singing and Theatre
If this is enough for you, there’s more! Walsh released an album entitled Chasing Dreams, which became a biggest selling album by a British artist in 2016.
As for Theatre, his roles have been known for multiple different casts of Cinderella, Peter Pan, and Aladdin. While he played in other shows, he played in multiple tellings of these particular shows.
Is that enough for you?
To say that Walsh is a “seasoned veteran” of the show is a huge understatement. I’ve never seen someone come onto the show with so much under their belt! Sports, acting, singing, presenting…this man is more than a triple threat. The more I read about him, the more I hope that this is true.
"Speaking to The Guardian, Freema said, “Is it true that Bradley Walsh is going to be the new assistant? I think he will be brilliant at that.”"
He’s definitely well known in the British entertainment world and more than fit for the role. It looks like with such a following, he could even possibly bring new fans to the show. If this is Chibnall’s choice in one of Thirteen’s companions, I can’t say it would be a bad one at all!
I hope that we’re not jumping to the conclusion about Walsh, but it seems that most sites have already started treated him like a companion. If everyone’s so sure, let’s take a chance and hope the man is the companion as well!
