Game of Thrones season 7 is over, and everyone is taking the chance to look back. HBO talked to several of the stars to find out which character interactions most excited them.
Among the cast as among the fans, plenty of people were excited to see members of the Stark family have a go at each other. Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy) was most interested to see Theon’s old cellmate (figuratively speaking) Sansa Stark interact with her half-brother/cousin Jon Snow. “He has to listen to her and she has to listen to him and respect his leadership. You get to see the power struggle there.”
The reunion between Sansa and Arya also drew a lot of praise. “I really enjoyed Sansa and Arya reuniting; I allowed it all to surprise me,” said Jerome Flynn (Bronn). “There’s a wonderful richness about this season, these characters coming together. I found that most moving.”
And John Bradley (Sam) practically offered a treatise on the reunion:
"Knowing the journey they’ve both been on, it’s interesting to see how it will affect, not only them as individuals, but their bond as sisters. Every time their journey took a little diversion, and every success and every trauma they’ve undergone, I was so hoping they would come face-to-face again, and hopefully, despite all the hardships, they’d be that family unit. But their lives aren’t simple anymore. It’s interesting to see that dynamic. When they’re together on screen, they’re so magical. I’m very happy to see it again."
Isaac Hempstead Wright (Bran), meanwhile, widened the scope to include his long-lost character. “It has to be the Starks back in Winterfell,” he said. “The three of them coming back with a vengeance. My loyalties are definitely with House Stark.”

But it wasn’t all about the Starks. Relative newcomer Pilou Asbæk (Euron Greyoy) was thrilled with the scene in the Dragonpit from the season 7 finale. “It was f**king incredible,” he enthused. “People who had never seen each other, people who hadn’t seen each other since Season 1, everyone. And everyone got their moment.”
It was wonderfully surreal to see so many people in one place. It really brought home the sheer number of well-developed characters this show has.
And of course, someone had to mention that season 7 finally treated us to a meeting (and eventually, more) between Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen. That person was Maisie Williams (Arya.)
"They just look so great together. You see Emilia [Clarke] and Kit [Harington] hanging out all the time, but there’s something really bizarre about when they’re all in costume and these worlds start colliding. There’s a little fangirl in me that had a little freak out. That was really cool, and the ongoing joke about Kit’s height is hilarious."
