Video: Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime) on which Game of Thrones characters would survive in prison
By Dan Selcke
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) is currently in a movie called Shot Caller, which is available through DirecTV Cinema and in select theaters. It’s about an upstanding citizen who gets sent to prison after a fatal traffic accident. The movie — and particularly Coster-Waldau’s performance — is getting a lot of praise. It’s recommended.
Coster-Waldau is doing plenty of press to promote the movie. But because he’s on Game of Thrones, interviewers are also eager to ask after his other gig. When speaking to Architectural Digest (wow, he’s really trying to get the word out), Coster-Waldau combined his two jobs and discussed how he thought Game of Thrones characters would fare behind bars.
So to recap:
- Jaime would be fine. He’s been imprisoned before, after all, and he’s no stranger to violence.
- Jon Snow is too good a person to survive behind bars. He’d probably consider himself above the gangs and end up with an icepick lodged somewhere unpleasant.
- Without her dragons, Daenerys wouldn’t stand a chance.
- Cersei Lannister would “dominate the prison…Everybody knows that.”
- Bronn, naturally, would be okay. He’s a roll-with-the-punches kind of guy.
Coster-Waldau is always a fun interview. We’ll be watching what he and the other cast members say when they receive the scripts for season 8 in the near future…
