It turns out Jon Snow does know something. Per an announcement in The Times of London, former onscreen lovers Kit Harington (Jon Snow) and Rose Leslie (Ygritte) are officially engaged to be married. Their announcement sounds straight out of the Seven Kingdoms:
"The engagement is announced between Kit, younger son of David and Deborah Harington of Worcestershire, and Rose, middle daughter of Sebastian and Candy Leslie of Aberdeenshire."
The happy couple first met while filming season 2, and began dating shortly thereafter. Per The Times, the couple’s engagement follows the purchase of a “£1.75 million 15th-century home in East Anglia which has eight acres, a moat, swimming pool, tennis court, stables and a banqueting hall.” Ned Stark would be proud.
Congratulations were quick to pour in, starting with a tweet straight from HBO UK:
Congratulations to these two!
Elsewhere, Harington’s onscreen lover/aunt/queen, Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen), has officially wrapped filming on the as-yet-untitled Han Solo film, per director Ron Howard. We’re guessing this took place before Clarke dyed her hair blonde-white in preparation for season 8.
And in the world of Jaime Lannister, star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau received his very own, custom made Kingslayer shoes. How cool is that?
Coster-Waldau also made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, joining other celebrities in reading mean Tweets about themselves. Coster-Waldau’s tweet concerned Jaime’s anatomy.
And finally, Aidan Gillen (Littlefinger) is getting work post-death. Vanity Fair reports that he’s joined the cast of Bohemian Rhapsody, a biopic about rock band Queen. Gillen will play band manager John Reid, alongside Mr. Robot star Rami Malek as front man Freddie Mercury. Reid was eventually fired by the band, but in much softer manner than poor Littlefinger. No word on a targeted release date.
Next: The budget for each episode of Game of Thrones season 8 is really, really big
Finally, let’s leave you with this picture of Carice van Houten on the set of season 7, having the time of her life.
