Kit Harington talks Game of Thrones season 8 and his engagement to Rose Leslie

Game of Thrones season 8 begins filming later this month, and Jon Snow (or Aegon Targaryen, depending on your preference) will be a big part of it. Star Kit Harington spoke briefly about what’s to come, as well as about his engagement to girlfriend Rose Leslie (Ygritte), on The Jonathan Ross Show.

As for the proposal itself, Harington said it didn’t go exactly as planned:

"I did have some plans to do it, I was going to string up some lights in some trees and do all the romantic stuff but we were in the country and we were under this beautiful night sky and had a log fire burning and red wine and I blew my load early. Sorry that’s a really bad expression. I was meant to do it the day after with the lights. What I meant to say was, I popped my question a bit early. Not blew my load."

Good save.

The King in the North also made sure to call Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss (or one of them, at least) to let them know he was getting married and when. “I rang him up and I said, ‘I’m getting married and it’s your fault actually.’ I was like, ‘You need to factor in a Game of Thrones wedding by the way.’ [The cast] have all got to be there so the whole thing has got to shut down.”

We wonder if HBO would go for that.

When asked if he was going to have a Game of Thrones-themed wedding, he laughed and said no. “There is absolutely no chance of me convincing her of that.” Probably for the best, considering how those tend to turn out.

On to season 8 stuff, Harington said he was about to do a read-through with the rest of the cast in just a couple of days. “I still don’t know anything about it, I genuinely don’t.”

"The funny thing is, all the art department – the hair and makeup and the horse riding team – they all know, they get the script but they’re not allowed to tell the actors."

Now if only we could get makeup artist Candice Banks or hair designer Kevin Alexander to give up the goods, we’d be in business!
