Lena Headey comes forward with her story about Harvey Weinstein

Over the past week-and-a-half, women in Hollywood have spoken out about hugely influential Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, accusing him of committing a series of sexual assaults for decades and indicting the Hollywood community that knew about his behavior but didn’t do anything to stop it. Many actresses have come forward with stories of encounters with Weinstein, either on their own or through exposés in papers like The New York Times or The New Yorker, including Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow, Rose McGowen, Ashley Judd, Asia Argento, Kate Beckinsale, Eva Green, Heather Graham, Rosanna Arquette, Mira Sorvino, and many more.

Now, Game of Thrones star Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister) has opened up about her own experiences with Weinstein on her Twitter page. Her story spans a number of years but starts in 2005, after she’d wrapped filming on The Brothers Grimm for Miramax. This was almost immediately before Weinstein, the founder of Miramax, left the studio to form The Weinstein Company.

Since the revelations came to light, the board of The Weinstein Company has fired Harvey Weinstein, and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has taken away his membership. The conversation continues on Twitter, where actress Alyssa Milano suggested that women who have suffered sexual assault and harassment write “Me too.” The #MeToo hashtag was used in over 100,000 tweets in one day.
