Kit Harington reveals start of season 8 filming, crying after table read

Filming on Game of Thrones season 8 is officially underway. At least for Kit Harington (Jon Snow) it is. Appearing on the BBC’s The One Show, Harington announced that he begins filming this coming Monday, October 23rd. And unless season 8 consists of extra long episodes of Jon brooding on the newly improved walls of Winterfell, we’re betting he’s not the only one who starts filming. Stars of the HBO drama have been spotted around Belfast in the past few weeks, assembling for a table read of the season 8 scripts. Harington revealed his emotional response after said read through.

"I’m really emotional about it. We had the read through last week, so I know everything. But I cried at the end – not over anything particular that happened – but it’s been 8 years and no one cares about it more than we do."

Harington echoed previous comments he’s made, saying that “It’s going to be a strange year saying goodbye to people.” One thing Harington won’t miss: those famously lustrous locks. Harington admitted he’s going to cut his hair when filming completes, and that “no one will know who he is.” We doubt that Lord Snow.

The manner in which filming will occur might be open to debate. In the name of increased security, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) stated that cast members will not receive scripts for season 8. Rather, they will be fed their lines on set via earpieces. Whether Coster-Waldau is exaggerating in some manner, remains to be seen.

Either way, Game of Thrones season 8 is officially underway. And we’re just as sad/happy as Harington.
