Rotten Tomatoes survey: Game of Thrones is the best show of the last 20 years
By Corey Smith
Review aggregation site Rotten Tomatoes recently asked readers to name their favorite TV show of the past 20 years. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Game of Thrones landed the top spot. HBO’s hit garnered 11% of the vote — the number two pic, Breaking Bad, nabbed 7%. A trio of comedies — The Big Bang Theory, Friends and Seinfeld — rounded out the top five.
RT asked a variety of other questions, too, including, “What is your favorite TV show that is currently on TV or streaming?” Game of Thrones performed even better on that round, getting 16% of the vote. The Big Bang Theory came in second with 9%. The Walking Dead was third with 8%. Of the 30 shows in contention, Game of Thrones was the only one to break the 10% mark.
If these results are anything to go on, a lot of the respondents have seen Game of Thrones, but plenty still chose it when asked, “What are some shows you’re dying to watch but haven’t had the time yet?” Thrones came in second with 14% of the vote, only beaten by Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, which snagged 20%.
For those respondents who want to watch Thrones but haven’t, what are you waiting for? There’s more than enough time before season 8 hits to catch up.
