Jason Momoa recalls Game of Thrones, stars in Frontier trailer, makes superhero debut, rules world

Jason Momoa has been everywhere recently, making trips to Belfast, showing off he hasn’t lost his Dothraki skills, and oh yeah: starring as Aquaman in the major motion picture Justice League, which is out in theaters today. He’s a superhero now. He’s made it. It’s over.

Naturally, he’s been promoting the movie all over the place, and recently talked to HBO along with the rest of the cast. The lot of them were asked what HBO characters they could be if they could be HBO characters, which is an odd question, but just go with it. Momoa gives a crowd-pleaser of a response:

“I’d be Khal Drogo but still f**king alive.” He can’t quite let it go and we love it.

At the moment, Justice League is getting…not great reviews, but even among critics who don’t love it, Momoa is getting praise. New York Times reviewer Manohla Dargis was lukewarm on it, but noted that Momoa keeps viewers “hooked,” and “supplely shifts between gravitas and comedy.” Rolling Stones’ Peter Travers named Momoa’s Aquaman as the “best” superhero in the bunch, saying he was responsible for “one of the film’s most beguiling moments.”

And even if Justice League ends up being kind of meh, Momoa has a solo Aquaman movie coming next year, so things are looking up for him no matter what.

Like, they’re really looking up. In addition to starring in a major movie tentpole, Momoa will also headline the second season of Frontier on Netflix, where he plays a grisly fur trader in the 1700s. Here’s the trailer:

Frontier season 2 drops on November 24. This is a big month for Momoa.

And looking into the future, Momoa has been tapped to play the lead in a reboot of The Crow series, which news came via a cryptic message Momoa posted on his Instagram…

…which was later confirmed by the director.

So basically, Momoa is Hollywood’s next big thing. How do we feel about his continued success?

Says it all.
