Children in Need released a clip of Doctor Who’s Christmas special yesterday! Here’s our reaction!

Since July at Comic-Con, the BBC has been particularly hushed about the Christmas Special. Until this month. First, the Doctor Who Magazine gave us an in-depth look at the 1960s meets 2017 companions, as well as David Bradley’s take on the iconic First Doctor.

Following the release of the magazine, Children in Need gave us a second look. This time, a clip of the episode, starring Peter Capaldi, Mark Gatiss, and David Bradley. The clip follows what must be close to where The Doctor Falls left off — with the Two Doctors meeting. By this time, they’ve met the World War I character Mark Gatiss plays, and the Twelfth Doctor is bringing the soldier and the First Doctor into his TARDIS.

The small clip played already brought laughs, as well as a reminder of Time Crash, the last time two Doctors met.

No spoilers! Don’t read below if you haven’t watched it or wait to watch until Christmas, stop reading here!

There were so many highlights of the sneak peek that, if the special is anything like it, will be a great holiday special. The best is the First Doctor’s reaction to a new TARDIS. You would think that the Doctor would like more than just the round things! But he is the original Doctor, so maybe all the bells and whistles just seem like too much for him?

Did anyone catch the small shoutout to River when the soldier (heartbreakingly) found out there would be a second World War? With all the laughs in the special, Mark Gatiss did a great job showing the fear of a soldier. The Doctor may have said spoilers and given River a shoutout, but it was still a sad moment.

Besides that, the end of the special was probably the best, when the First Doctor admits he expected to get younger. I don’t think Twelve was expecting that! It seems that we can expect chemistry and laughs between David Bradley and Peter Capaldi!
