As 2017 comes to a close, Twitter has compiled, among other things, a list of the most tweeted-about shows of the year, Entertainment Weekly reports. As it turns out, Game of Thrones is pretty popular. Despite airing for only seven weeks in 2017, Thrones was at the top of the list. Take that, Flip or Flop.
Season 7 featured a bevy of water cooler moments, from Daenerys finally arriving in Westeros to the death of Viserion and the destruction of the Wall. A few people might have been talking about a certain scene on a boat as well.
The rest of the top ten should look pretty familiar to anyone who watched television this past year. In order of buzziness, here’re the shows people were talking about online this year:
- Game of Thrones
- Stranger Things
- Big Brother
- 13 Reasons Why
- Saturday Night Live
- The Walking Dead
- Grey’s Anatomy
- The Voice
- Supernatural
- Pretty Little Liars
That’s not bad company to keep. (Stranger Things topped the list when considering streaming only options.)
On the big screen, Wonder Woman dominated. Following it were La La Land, Dunkirk, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Justice League, It, Beauty and the Beast, Thor: Ragnarok, Black Panther, and Fifty Shades Darker. It’s good to be a superhero these days.
For those wondering, the single most-liked tweet of the year belonged to Game of Thrones super fan and former President of the United States Barack Obama, who weighed in after the racially charged riots in Charlottesville, North Carolina in August.
Roughly 4.6 million likes. That’s slightly more than our most-liked tweet of 2017.
Just slightly.
