Gwendoline Christie promotes Star Wars, cast members give Christmas messages, and more

What are the Game of Thrones cast members up to ahead of the holidays? Let’s find out!

Let’s start with one Gwendoline Christie, who’s currently starring in both the biggest TV series on Earth and the biggest movie franchise on Earth, by which I mean you can now see her as the villainous Captain Phasma in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which might be playing in a movie theater near you. Maybe, I dunno.

Anyway, she’s been making the press rounds to promote the movie (cause no one will see if it’s not promoted), telling stories about awkward fan interactions on The Graham Norton Show

…and sticking her hand in a box full of scary stuff with costar John Boyega for Variety

…and talking about how they got her Stormtrooper armor so shiny:

Incidentally, look closely and you may be able to see a few other Thrones veterans in The Last Jedi, including Kate Dickie (Lysa Arryn) as a First Order officer and Mark Lewis Jones (Shagga, son of Dolf) as…another First Order officer. No Rebel good guy roles for this lot.

Christie isn’t the only Thrones veteran appearing in a major motion picture franchise. Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) will appear as the mutant Wolfsbane in The New Mutants, an upcoming X-Men spinoff. There’s a creepy new teaser focused on her character out now:

So apparently The New Mutants will be an X-Men-meets-horror movie deal. It’ll be out in in April of 2018.

In crew news, IGN reports that Matt Shakman — who shot up in the estimation of Game of Thrones fans after directing the rip-roaring episode “The Spoils of War” — will direct an adaptation of beloved children’s novel The Phantom Tollbooth, about a bored boy named Milo who explores the mysterious Lands Beyond thanks to the titular tollbooth, which appears in his room.

The movie feature a mix of live action and CGI scenes. See what getting involved with Game of Thrones does for your career?

Finally, a couple of the Game of Thrones cast members have Christmas messages for y’all. Emilia Clarke wants to give thanks to the people at Britain’s National Health Service…

…in between delivering presents to children.

Meanwhile, Lena Headey sings a song inspired by snowfall.

…and leaves a Christmas message:

Check out some of the other Christmas messages from the cast, some of which may or may include political elements:

Happy holidays, all.
