Another character introduced in Game of Thrones season 7 is returning for season 8

We’ve got a spot of new news about Game of Thrones season 8 to share. It’s nothing earth-shattering, but it does technically involve SPOILERS, so proceed with caution.

Okay, the news: two minor characters introduced in Game of Thrones season 7 are returning for season 8. One we already knew. Last week, Wiki of Thrones reported that actor Harry Grasby was spotted in a Belfast airport, indicating that he’ll appear somewhere in the final six episodes.

If you don’t recall, Grasby played the young Ned Umber in the season 7 premiere. Acting against Sansa’s wishes, Jon Snow forgave Ned Umber for the crimes of his father the Smalljon, who sided with Ramsay Bolton in the Battle of the Bastards. Together with the young Alys Karstark (Megan Parkinson), whose father also fought with the Boltons, Ned Umber reaffirmed his family’s allegiance to the Stark family.

As it ends up, Parkinson is returning for season 8 as well, according to her profile on the Independent Talent agency website.

Together with Lyanna Mormont, there seems to be a new generation of Northern leaders taking shape. Depending on how the war with the White Walkers goes, they may be sorely needed.

Finally, Watchers on the Wall tracked down a brand new character being introduced in season 8. Per his profile on casting website Spotlight, actor Seamus O’Hara will play someone named Fergus. Here’s O’Hara during a…candid moment:

O’Hara is working with “various” directors, meaning he’s guaranteed to appear in more than one episode.

“Fergus” is a common name in Ireland and Scotland — almost too common for Game of Thrones, to be honest; I wonder if it’s a placeholder name. As for who he could be playing, it’s anyone’s guess. With his pale skin and copper hair, he could be from the Riverlands, although he’d also make a fine Northerner. What do you guys think?
