If you’re a Doctor Who fan and enjoyed season nine than you know something has been missing from your collection. The season nine soundtrack. The score, written by Murray Gold, has gone suspiciously unreleased for some time. The season nine soundtrack wasn’t announced until Murray Gold announced his departure from the show.

Season nine counted as the first season that wasn’t accompanied by a soundtrack. Fans waited anxiously for the soundtrack. Now, they at least have a timeframe: early 2018.

Fans took to Twitter almost daily, talking at how many people wanted the soundtrack, it’s amazing it took this long.

"Disc one contains cues from The Magician’s Apprentice, The Witch’s Familiar, Under The Lake, Before The Flood, The Girl Who Died and The Woman Who Lived.Second, Disc 2 contains cues from The Zygon Invasion, The Zygon Inversion, Sleep No More, Face The Raven and Hell Bent.Third, The third disc contains the score from the Series standout episode Heaven Sent. Finally, The fourth disc contains the score to the 2015 Christmas Special The Husbands Of River Song."

As with the Series 8 release, the first run of CDs will contain an additional booklet collecting Stuart Manning’s retro poster designs for each episode.

With Heaven Sent being the most popular episode of the Peter Capaldi’s era, the Heaven Sent soundtrack is the most awaited disc. The episode was filled with some of the best scores of the television show, as there was almost no dialogue in the episode.

Season 10

There has also been talking about the score for season ten to be released, but no release date. But Whovians should rest assure that it will most likely come out before Chibnall’s season begins in Autumn. This will wrap everything up nicely with Murray Gold, bringing on the new composer.
