Game of Thrones is getting a line of postage stamps from the Royal Mail
By Corey Smith
Game of Thrones merchandise comes in all shapes and sizes. Now, Great Britain’s Royal Mail service has revealed a terrific line of Game of Thrones-themed stamps due out on January 23, for when sending mail by raven just won’t do.
There will be 15 stamps in all, 10 of which will feature human characters — check them out below.
We could have used stamps based on the Hound, Bran, or the Greyjoys, but we very much approve of the Olenna and Tywin stamps.
The other five stamps feature the Night King and the White Walkers, giants, direwolves, dragons and the Iron Throne. Various gift sets are available, such as the Beasts & Blades Ice Cover, a five-set featuring the Sansa, Jon, Ned, Olenna and Tywin stamps with an icy background. You can preorder the stamps now, although note that these are limited edition, with some sets having a run of only 1,500 units.
As Game of Thrones films its eighth and final season, the Royal Mail felt compelled to release the stamps in recognition of the show’s “very significant British contribution,” seeing as so many cast and crew members hail from the United Kingdom, not to mention of all the filming the show does there.
The various gift bundles also include maps of Westeros, stamp books to store your treasures, post cards, and more. You can even get the stamps framed, or have the post cards personalized with you name and address.
The options range widely in price; the “Westeros Bundle” will run you £55.65 (including value tax added) while the character stamp set above is £6.50 (ditto).
