Game of Thrones stars Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) and Kit Harington (Jon Snow) appeared at the 75th annual Golden Globes this past Sunday night alongside several other cast members, although they were the only ones who got to be presenters. They announced the awards for both Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy and Best Television Series — Musical or Comedy. And while Game of Thrones itself went home empty-handed, Clarke still got plenty of words in edgewise.
A correspondent for Access Hollywood caught up with Clarke at one of the Golden Globes afterparties, and did her best to draw out information about season 8. Watch the battle of wills below:
“It’s a really bittersweet time for us right now, and a very exciting one,” Clarke said of the season 8 set, which could be busy as late as August of this year. Unfortunately, that long filming period means that the show’s final season won’t air until 2019, so fans have a long wait ahead of them. Clarke’s a little exasperated, too, but assures us that “it’s gonna be worth it. Oh my god, it’s gonna be worth it.”
Beyond that, Access Hollywood tries to get a reaction out of Clarke by asking how Dany might react when she finds out that Jon Snow is a competitor for the Iron Throne, but Clarke is having none of it. “Yeah, what’s up with that?” is her only response. Well played.
Access digs deeper by asking if Dany has any scenes at Winterfell, which is a bridge too far. “I’m not saying anything!” she exclaims For heaven’s sake!” But she did talk about the out-of-body experience she had after reading the season 8 scripts:
"Okay, so I read the scripts this season, and I…in some kind of a daze walked out of my house. The only thing I took was my keys, and about three hours later I arrived back home, and I still hadn’t taken it all in."
“I don’t know if anyone’s ready ,” she finished. “I don’t know if TVs are ready.” Sounds about right.
