There are tons of great new and returning shows coming in 2018. But, it’s Westworld’s sophomore season that has everyone buzzing.
Westworld Season 1 garnered 22 Primetime Emmy nominations and delighted fans and critics alike. Its been over a year since the first season premiered, but, thankfully, the show will finally return this year. At the end of 2017, several media outlets posted their lists of the most anticipated shows of 2018.
Westworld Season 2 was on many of the lists, and in some cases, it was one of the most anticipated. This isn’t surprising given the success of the show’s first season; however, the length between seasons caused the show to fall off some people’s radar.
Without further ado, Let’s look at what some outlets are saying about Westworld’s second season

What Media Outlets Are Saying About Westworld’s Highly Anticipated Second Season
Film School Rejects
In their list of the 28 most anticipated shows of 2018, Film School Rejects’s Liz Baessler had this to say about HBO’s massive sci-fi western:
"“With its unique treatment of time and intricate storytelling, the first season of Westworld was a goldmine for conspiracy and interpretation. Then it ended on a note that was both definitive and open-ended. Will it ever be able to match the surprise and excitement of that initial unraveling? It’s hard to say. But the finale suggests that the show is just getting started, so it’s safe to assume it’ll only get more elaborate and intense in its second season.”"
Varitey
Variety had a ton of shows in their most anticipated list, and Westworld’s follow-up season was among them. Variety mentioned the show’s complex plot and production delays, but in the end, they were stoked for Westworld Season 2:
"“Rebounding after first season production delays, the show made quite a splash in its debut, scoring 22 Primetime Emmy nominations (tying for the most noms of the year). The ambitious nature of the storytelling — multiple worlds, multiple timelines, themes of questioning, consciousness, and what it means to be human — promises to deliver even more in the second season with the introduction of new worlds.”"
Vanity Fair
Vanity Fair had Westworld Season 2 at the top of its list for returning shows. They touched upon how HBO tends to make fans wait for their favorite shows. But, they also tipped their cap to Westworld’s divine cast. They said the following about the show’s triumphant return:
"“HBO is once again hoping you’ll ignore the big Game of Thrones-shaped hole in its schedule and turn your attention back to the sci-fi mind game that is Westworld. The Emmy-nominated series, starring Evan Rachel Wood and Thandie Newton, is ready to confound you once again in its second season.”"
TV Guide
Fans are excited for Westworld Season 2, and it seems the folks over at TV Guide are as well. The outlet mentioned Westworld Season 2 among the 19 most anticipated shows of 2018. In an excerpt from the article, TV guide had this to say about Westworld:
"“Chaos rules Westworld when the HBO series returns for its sophomore season. We don’t know where the plot’s going after that jaw-dropping Season 1 finale, but we do know that geographically, the show will take viewers outside the central park seen in Season 1 and maybe into other worlds, possibly including a Samurai one and a Roman one”"
Westworld Season 2 will premiere Spring 2018.
