Game of Thrones stunt team wins at the Screen Actors Guild Awards

The cast and crew of Game of Thrones showed up for the 24th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards last night. They came, they saw, they…did okay.

Game of Thrones has never performed spectacularly at the SAG Awards, which honor the best in acting in TV and film. Peter Dinklage was nominated for an award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series, his fifth nomination, but lost to Sterling K. Brown of This Is Us.

But Dinklage still won something, as he was also nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture for his work in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, which is getting a lot of awards buzz in general. Beyond that, the cast of Game of Thrones as a whole was nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, the sixth time it’s been nominated for that. It’s never won and it didn’t this time. Again, This Is Us took home the prize.

But Game of Thrones did win one award, and it’s one it’s taken home each and every year it’s been on the air: Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Television Series.

Makes sense — Game of Thrones’  stunt work is pretty unimpeachable. Congratulations to stunt coordinator Rowley Irlam and his incredible team!

And even though they didn’t win, plenty of cast and crew members showed up. As usual, Iain Glen (Jorah) wore his formal kilt:
