Sophie Turner has her final Game of Thrones costume fitting

Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) is currently hard at work making Game of Thrones season 8, but took a beat to talk to Coveteur about how she went from the red-headed Lady of Winterfell to a blonde bombshell for her new film Josie. In the process, she gave us a better idea of when filming on the final season may end, beyond the obvious answer of “too soon.”

"There are moments it doesn’t seem final. I had my final costume fitting the other day, and I was like, ‘Bye, guys.’ And they were like, ‘Wait! We might never see you again!’"

Sansa pretty much only wore one new costume in season 7, so she would have had to have her fitting for that early on, before she filmed anything. Filming on season 8 has been going on for a while, long enough that we can’t imagine she hasn’t filmed something yet. Does this mean that Sansa will have more than one new costume in the final six episodes? She is the crafty sort.

“I think right now, we have a few months, so a lot of us are getting up in the fact that it’s another day, another day, another day,” Turner continued. “Then people are like, ‘Bye!’ and you kind of get stunted, like, ‘Oh my God, she’s gone!’ And then another day, another day, another day…I think once it starts really wrapping up towards the summer, that’s when it’s going to start getting emotional.”

Turner’s comment about wrapping in the summer is in line with what HBO programming president Casey Bloys said after the season 7 finale last year. If filming started started in October and will wrap in the summer — The Hollywood Reporter’s sources put the end date somewhere in August — that puts us about at the halfway mark right now.

In other news, former Game of Thrones star Rose Leslie (Ygritte) talked to Entertainment Weekly about how she avoids GoT spoilers, a difficult task when you’re engaged to Kit Harington (Jon Snow). “I for sure ask Kit not to show me his excitement after he has read an episode, simply because I don’t want to read anything in his eyes,” she said.

"I know the anticipation is killing a lot of people, and my God the build-up is fantastic. I can’t wait until next year. So when he’s at the other end of the room and reading the episode, it’s like, no … we are not going to have eye contact for a long time. Go make a cup of tea. Calm down."

Sound advice, Rose Leslie. Although if you do want to read the scripts, we hear Maisie Williams’ mother has some copies lying around.
