Syfy releases the first trailer for George R.R. Martin’s Nightflyers
Syfy has released the first trailer for its new series Nightflyers, based on A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones author and creator George R.R. Martin’s science fiction novella of the same name. Please don’t watch it in a dark room by yourself, at night, or in space. Enjoy.
Set to premiere later this year, Nightflyers follows the terrifying misadventures of a group of scientists who travel into deep space aboard a highly advanced spacecraft to find an alien ship. The first season will consist of 10 episodes. The cast:
- Gretchen Mol (Mozart in the Jungle) as Agatha Matheson
- Eoin Macken (Resident Evil: The Final Chapter) as Karl D’Branin
- David Ajala (Doctor Who, Black Box) as Roy Eris
- Sam Strike (Mindhunter) as Thale
- Maya Eshet (Teen Wolf) as Lommie
- Angus Sampson (Shut Eye) as Rowan
- Jodie Turner-Smith (The Last Ship) as Melantha Jhirl
- Brían F. O’Byrne (The Magicians) as Auggie
In 1987, writer and producer Robert Jaffe adapted Nightflyers into a feature-length film. That went…okay…
Jaffe has returned to produce the Syfy show. George R.R Martin will not be involved directly — his contract with HBO prevents him from working with other networks — but he will receive an executive producer credit. And apparently he’s available to give trailer soundbites, as you can see above. “It’s Psycho in space.”
Anyway, Martin’s properties are hot right now, and Nightflyers looks like it’s got potential. Do you think it’s worth checking out?
