HBO is screening the first episode of Westworld season 2 ahead of the premiere in select cities

Season 2 of HBO’s science fiction smash hit Westworld will debut on April 22, and a few lucky fans will be able to see it on the big screen beforehand. According to Entertainment Weekly, HBO is hosting (geddit?) three separate screenings in three different cities: San Francisco on April 18, Philadelphia on April 21, and Boston on April 22. That last one isn’t technically an advance screening, but it will be fancier than sitting at home watching it on TV.

What’s more, two cast members from the show will be hand for each screening: Simon Quarterman (Lee Sizemore, Westworld’s lead narrator) and Shannon Woodward (Elsie Hughes, who worked with Bernard in Behavior Diagnostics). After the episode is over, they’ll hold a Q&A and hang out for an afterparty in a location designed to look like the Mariposa Saloon from the show.

The party will get weird after that, according to the press release:

"At each premiere event, guests will partake in a personality assessment to determine whether they receive a black or white hat. Attendees will then leave this world behind as they escape to Westworld, a Delos Destination, for a night free of rules, laws or judgment featuring a specially curated menu that will transport guests to Sweetwater, complete with themed cocktails and whiskey drams provided by Westward American Single Malt Whiskey."

Who doesn’t want to cavort around at a movie screening unbound by rules, laws or judgment? It’s like they say on the show: “These violent delights will turn out just fine.” In any case, so far as we can tell, the chance to purchase tickets has passed, so you’re in no danger.

One other bit of Westworld ramp-up: on Monday, April 9, the creators of the show — Jonah Nolan and Lisa Joy — will partake in an AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit.

Maybe they’ll reveal who’s a host and who isn’t. (Hint: It’s everyone. Everyone is a host.)
