Welcome to another episode of A Song of Dan and Josh, the show where FanSided editor Josh Hill and I break down A Song of Ice and Fire chapter by chapter. I’ve read the books multiple times. Josh has seen the show but never read the books. It’s a recipe for delight. Look at how delighted we are.

This week, we discuss Tyrion V and Eddard X from A Game of Thrones. Join the discussion:
Here’s what we hit this week:
- This is one of the first times we see Tyrion use his unique gifts to get himself out of a sticky situation. We break down his tête-à-tête with Lysa Arryn.
- The sky cells are a great invention by George R.R. Martin.
- In the Ned chapter, we get part of a scene that the show wouldn’t adapt until season 6: the confrontation at the Tower of Joy. Josh is surprised to see it turn up this early, although it makes sense in retrospect.
- Robert has done a lot of terrible things and clearly isn’t interested in leading. In this chapter, he reveals a regretful, melancholy side. Can we summon any sympathy for him?
- Likewise, we know that Cersei Lannister is a terrible person, but god help me, there’s a part of me that cheers when she gets what she wants. Why is that?
- Robert offers Ned an out in this chapter. Should Ned have taken it?
A Song of Dan and Josh airs with Take the Black Live every Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. CST on our Facebook page. HOWEVER, we will not be around for the next two weeks — the space we use to film the show is needed for some other stuff. But we’ll be back come May 2 for more analysis, discussion, and shameless plugs for iTunes. See you then!
