“Hey, they were in Game of Thrones”—Where else have you seen these 55 GoT cast members? (Part 2)
14) FAYE MARSAY
The Waif is one of the mysterious people operating in the ancient cult of the Faceless Men in Braavos. Played with an inscrutable malevolence by English actress Faye Marsay, she was both an ally of Jaqen H’ghar and a dangerous antagonist to Arya Stark.
In an interview with the Daily Mail, Marsay described her joy at becoming a part of Thrones: “It’s probably the best job I have ever done. Most of my storylines are with Maisie Williams, which is a joy. She is such a talented and special girl.”
Marsay has racked up some impressive TV credits, including roles in The White Queen (2013, above), Fresh Meat (2013), The Bletchley Circle (2014), Love, Nina (2016), Black Mirror (2016) and Bancroft (2017).
Continuing with her Daily Mail interview, Marsay talked about her back-up plan if her theatrical career never took off: “Football is my true love. I played with boys until I was 11 and then for a girls’ club in Middlesbrough until I was 16. If acting hadn’t panned out, being a footballer was my plan B. We still have a kick-about from time to time, me and some of the other northern girls I know in London.”
Faye never had to fall back on football. In addition to her TV work, she’s had roles in movies like Pride (2014, above), You, Me and Him (2017) and The Darkest Hour (2017).
Marsay also appeared on Doctor Who in 2014 as Shona, a character planning to binge-watch every episode of Game of Thrones during her Christmas break. Check out her latest work as Katya Godman in the BBC TV series McMafia.
