38) ROXANNE MCKEE

As a handmaiden to Daenerys Targaryen, Doreah instructed the budding Khaleesi in the ways of love. Played by Canadian actress Roxanne McKee, Doreah seemed loyal to Daenerys, but when the promise of wealth proved too great, she betrayed her to Xaros Xhoan Daxos in Qarth and got locked in an empty vault for all eternity as punishment. It’s never a good idea to try and screw over the Mother of Dragons.

In an interview with Vulture, McKee talked about why Doreah was the kind of damaged person who would ultimately always look out for her own self interest.

"She’s bright, quick-witted, and she’s got an instinct to survive … She uses her femininity and her sexuality because she doesn’t have anything else. She did what she did because at the end of the day, she only has herself and Daenerys, but how long is Daenerys going to look after her? She doesn’t trust easily. Why would you, if you had been sold to a pleasure house by your mother when you were 12? I wouldn’t!"

McKee first appeared on the TV series Hollyoaks (2005-2008, with Thrones veteran Nathalie Emmanuel) and followed that up with stints on series like The Persuasionists (2010), Lip Service (2010) and Dominion (2014-15, above). Her feature films include Vendetta (2013), The Legend of Hercules (2014) and Ironclad: Battle for Blood (2014).
