Limited edition ‘Beautiful Death’ Game of Thrones home boxsets are coming

The eighth and final season of Game of Thrones won’t hit our screens until 2019. To help fill the void until then, HBO is releasing limited edition boxsets of each season, according to What Culture. Each will feature original artwork from Robert Ball, the man behind the Beautiful Death posters.

If you’re unfamiliar with the Beautiful Death series, Ball creates artwork for each episode, each piece inspired by a different death. He made new works for these limited edition covers. The season 1 sleeve features Bran Stark looking the window of the Broken Tower at Winterfell right before Jaime pushes him out, while the season 2 sleeve recalls the wildfire explosion during the Battle of the Blackwater.

The season 3 sleeve depicts the Red Wedding, naturally, whereas season 4 opts for a scene from “The Lion and the Rose,” where King Joffrey Baratheon is assassinated at his own wedding recaption.

Season 5 is represented by the Sons of the Harpy being roasted alive by Drogon in Daznak’s Pit, whereas season 6 is honored by the moment from “No One” where Arya slices through a candle right before killing the Waif, an interesting choice.

Finally, the season 7 artwork features a fiery sword with the army of the dead advancing toward Jon Snow and company from Episode 706, “Beyond the Wall.”

I’ve long been a fan of Robert Ball’s Beautiful Death artwork, so investing some of my hard-earned gold dragons into these limited edition releases is a no-brainer for me. The boxsets will go on sale June 4.
