Season 8 SPOILERS: Yet more cast members spotted in Seville, including some very unexpected ones

facebooktwitterreddit

Just earlier today, we reported on several Game of Thrones cast members converging on Seville, where the production is currently filming scenes at the nearby ruins of Italica, best known to fans as the Dragonpit. Now, several more have been spotted, including at least one we never expected to see on a Game of Thrones set again. Read on for SPOILERS.

Okay, let’s start with the surprising stuff before moving into the really surprising stuff. Twitter’s own Joe Weaver has snapped several photos from the ground on Seville, showing off important cast and crew members gathered around. First, we have Nikolaj Coster-Waldau getting mobbed by fans in a moving vehicle…

…and then a couple of a bigger group. Let’s see who we can spot:

Most obviously, showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss are on the left. In the huddle in the middle, we can clearly identify Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) and Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark), both of whom were already known to be in the area. And then Williams posted a picture of Turner on his Instagram stories and confirmed that they’re in the same location:

Also among the crowd are Isaac Hempstead Wright (Bran Stark) and Joe Dempsie (Gendry):

Here’s another picture from Weaver:

Obviously that’s John Bradley (Sam Tarly) right of center.

Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) is weaving in and out of this crowd, too, although we already knew he was in the area thanks to a separate Instagram post yesterday:

We can see yet more cast members in photos Alma Alanís, including Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth), Conleth Hill (Varys) and Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth).

UPDATE: Then, more recently, Lena Headey, Cersei Lannister herself, showed up:

So, to recap, characters who could appear at the Dragonpit in season 8 include Arya Stark, Sansa Stark, Bran Stark, Brienne of Tarth, Gendry, Tyrion Lannister, Jaime Lannister, Cersei Lannister, Davos Seaworth, Varys and Samwell Tarly.

There are also a few actors who’ve been reported to be in or on their way to Seville but who haven’t been photographed yet, including Iain Glen (Jorah Mormont) and Kit Harington (Jon Snow). We can’t confirm them, though…yet. Interestingly, Los Siete Reinos reports that Lino Facioli (Robin Arryn) is also in town. Will the Lord of the Vale make his way to King’s Landing?

So that’s quite a meeting of the minds. What will these characters talk about when they make it to the Dragonpit? We’re not sure. We do know, however, that Benioff and Weiss are directing the last episode of season 8. True, these two are often on set for episodes they don’t direct — they are the showrunners, after all — but this many characters so close together gives us a series finale vibe. And if that’s true, the absence (as of now) of people like Kit Harington, Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen), Rory McCann (the Hound), Carice van Houten (Melisandre), Daniel Portman (Podrick Payne), Jacob Anderson (Grey Worm), Nathalie Emmanuel (Missandei) and all of the Greyjoy family actors may be significant.

Okay, now here’s the REALLY surprising stuff. In addition to all these current cast members, there are some oddballs thrown in there. For example, Tom Wlaschiha (Jaqen H’ghar) made an appearance…

…as did Faye Marsay (the Waif).

So just what the hell is the Faceless Man clan doing near an important shoot on Game of Thrones season 8? It’s possible that they’re an important part of the fabric of the final season…but we suspect this is just the producers having some fun. Let’s not forget that they brought Sibel Kekelli (Shae) onto the set during filming for season 6 purposefully to throw people off — they even put her into costume. And then there’s been talk about the production shooting multiple endings for the show. The point is that the producers are known to pull stunts like this to confuse spoiler-hungry fans.

To pound that point home, Vladimir Furdik (the Night King) is also part of this throng, out in full view of everyone:

So yeah, I think the producers are trolling us a bit, at least with Wlaschiha and Marsay. But what do you think? This is a lot to chew on.
