On Tuesday night, the Game of Thrones Live Concert Experience kicked off its 2018 tour in Madrid, Spain. Spanish site Los Siete Reinos was on hand and provided a detailed recap of the event, and many fans took to social media to share photos and videos of themselves enjoying the night’s musical festivities.
Here’s what the WiZink Center looked like before it filled up:
Soon enough, the people filed in:
Lena Heady recorded a dedication to the audience that played ahead of the show’s opening theme:
From there, composer Ramin Djawadi came out and greeted the crowd before conducting a medley of House themes — each spot on the tour will use local musicians.
An early standout moment was a rendition of the House Stark theme, played by a violinist on top of a weirwood tree.
Djawadi shepherded audiences through each season of the show. The highlights of the season 2 was a rendition of Melisandre’s theme, “The Red Woman,” and “Wildfire,” from Episode 209, “Blackwater.”
Naturally, the season 3 section focused on the Lannister theme, “The Rains of Castamere.”
And now, the Red Wedding section, set to “The Lannisters Send Their Regards.” Happy crying.
Djawadi played Arya’s theme, “Needle,” himself.
A rendition of “Mhysa,” the song that plays over Daenerys’ conquest of Yunkai, rounded out season 3.
Come season 4, we got a rendition of “The Children,” the music that played as Bran and company arrived at the cave of the Three-Eyed Raven and Arya headed across the Narrow Sea to Braavos.
Season 5 included the unforgettable “Atonement,” from Cersei’s walk of shame.
“Hold the Door” is still hard to listen to. Ouch, our souls.
Of course the Battle of the Bastards got its own suite:
But, as last year, the crown jewel of the season 6 portion was “Light of the Seven,” which plays over Cersei’s destruction of the Sept of Baelor.
The biggest draw for people who saw the concert last year is the addition of songs from season 7, including “Truth,” which plays over Jon and Dany’s infamous boat hookup.
The season 7 portion wrapped up with “Army of the dead.”
At the conclusion of the concert, Ramin Djawadi thanked the crowd and exited the stage. Then an “In Memoriam” video played featuring all the characters killed throughout the show. Boy, that must have been one long video.
