Continuing directly where series five left off, Big Finish have announced the title and release date of the next series of Torchwood: God Among Us!
When series five of Torchwood: Aliens Among Us finished with Herald of the New Dawn, there were a lot of unanswered questions and loose threads. Who was Ng? What were the Sorvix running from? And this time, had Jack gone too far?
And then god arrived.

Today, Big Finish have released details of what to expect from series six. The title, God Among Us, shows a very natural progression from the last epic series. Unsurprisingly, it continues just a few days after the ending of Aliens Among Us, and features many of the previous season’s cast.
Writer and producer James Goss has revealed more of what we can expect from this season.
"We had such a great reaction to Series 5, it’s been a delight getting the cast back together to do more. Now things are established the stories are more standalone, seeing Torchwood face some tough challenges – a plague of sleep, a city that goes blind, organizing a funeral, and then there’s an alien god to deal with!"
It certainly sounds like there’s a lot to look forward to with this series, just from the first few episodes. But organizing a funeral? Naturally, the big question is: whose? (It better not be Mr Colchester, that’s for sure. He’s the best original character we’ve had since Ianto!)

Episodes
The first four episodes have been announced as follows:
"6.1 Future Pain by James Goss6.2 The Man Who Destroyed Torchwood by Guy Adams6.3 See No Evil by John Dorney6.4 Night Watch by Tim Foley"
I’m really excited at this list. Not just because of the intriguing titles. (Especially the second one. Guy Adams, what are you up to?)
It’s also because all four writers are incredibly strong ones. Every single one of them has written at least several audio stories that I adore. Even Tim Foley, who’s joined Big Finish much more recently, wrote two of the best Torchwood episodes last season. So we’re already guaranteed a strong start to series six.
Torchwood: God Among Us begins in October 2018 with the release of the first four episodes on CD and download. The next four will then be released in February 2019, and the final four will be released in June 2019.
The last season of Torchwood ended things in a big way. So how will the new season compare?

What to be excited about
Considering how incredibly strong Aliens Among Us was as a whole, there’s a lot to be excited about with God Among Us. Particularly with new storylines, new episodes, and with an alien god, perhaps Torchwood’s biggest threat yet!
But it will also be great to hear more of the regulars. Not just John Barrowman as Captain Jack, or Tracy-Ann Oberman as Yvonne Hartman. (Seriously, it was the best decision ever to bring her back in the last season.)
All the original characters have been fantastic creations, too. For example, Ng got around the problem of Eve Myles’s lack of availability while being an intriguing character in her own right.
Oor was a particularly very modern and very relevant idea for an alien. Tyler Steele was also an interesting character, in that you never knew whose side he was on. Other than his own, of course.
But Paul Clayton really stood out as Mr Colchester. Like I said, he’s one of the best original creations we’ve had yet from the audio series. So the more we hear of him, the better. (Seriously, guys, please don’t kill him off!)
God has arrived in Cardiff. This time, how can Torchwood possibly be ready?
