Funko, the company that makes adorable, super-deformed figurines based on your favorite characters from pop culture, has made a lot of Game of Thrones figurines over the years, but many characters have been left out. Would it kill Funko to make a Varys figurine? What about Theon? No love for Missandei? And no collection of Game of Thrones figurines would be complete without Lady Olenna Tyrell, the Queen of Thorns herself.
That last omission, at least, is now getting corrected. As Elio and Linda of Westeros.org announce below, there will be a Funko Pop! version of Lady Olenna available at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, which will kick off on July 19 at the San Diego Convention Center. The cast and crew of Game of Thrones may be skipping the con this year, but this almost makes it worth it.
I like it a lot, although I’m not sure I agree that the wine glass is “a nice touch.” As I recall, Olenna is pretty careful about her alcohol intake. She’s not Cersei. Perhaps a cheese plate would have served better?
But I’m nitpicking. Good on Funko for giving the fans what they want. Next step: a Septa Unella Funko figure, complete with functional bell.
UPDATE: And now this is happening at SDCC, too:
New Funkos for all.
Next: Season 8 filming: A Song of Towers Covered in Skins and Furs
