Comics publisher Dark Horse is expanding with a high-end online collectibles store, and two Game of Thrones figurines are grabbing the spotlight. On Monday, president/founder Mike Richardson announced the launch of Dark Horse Direct, an online shop that will feature special limited edition figurines, busts, and collectibles — previously, Dark Horse had only sold collectibles through other retailers, rather than directly.
“Dark Horse Direct is the latest example in Dark Horse’s long history of innovative business practices,” Richardson said in a statement. “Dark Horse constantly looks for new ways to inspire passion in our fans in every format possible, which is why a direct-to-consumer program is the most logical move as we continue to grow our business and cultivate new fans.”
The first Game of Thrones collectible offered on the new shop is an 8″ Tormund Giantsbane figurine, selling for $39.99 and available to pre-order now.
Dark Horse is expected to begin shipping this figurine in August, but you can get your hands on one earlier at the 2018 San Diego Comic Con later next week; 300 will be available for purchase at booth #2615.
The other Game of Thrones collectible on Dark Horse Direct is the Iron Throne, which is so new it’s not even available to pre-order yet.
The Iron Throne stands at a massive 18″ tall and comes with a hand-numbered certificate of authenticity. We don’t know the price yet. It’s expected to ship early next year.
