Stranger Things season 3 is currently under production, and Netflix is building the hype. Just this morning, it released a new teaser…kinda…for the upcoming season:

God, these people love the ’80s. So much.

So there isn’t a lot of new information here, although adding a shopping mall to the small town of Hawkins, Indiana is a natural step. Up until recently, when online retailers started cutting in on the marketshare, malls were the place for tweenagers and teenages to hang out in their free time, and it should make a great setting for the show’s young characters.

We see two of those characters briefly in the teaser: Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) and newcomer Robin (Maya Hawke), working at Scoops Ahoy, a fictional (I think) ice cream joint. Looks like Steve’s found himself a summer job — season 3 will be during the summer, incidentally.

Speaking of summer, easily the most important thing to take from this teaser is the bit at the end. “Coming next summer.” We’re just gonna take that as confirmation that Netflix will release Stranger Things season 3 in June or July of 2019. See you then.
