Every day, people around the internet labor to make funny little memes and videos about Game of Thrones. These are their stories.
First up, the YouTube channel The Cartoon Show has made a video that imagines how A Song of Ice and Fire would play out if it were adapted not as a TV show but as a 16-bit role-playing game in the style of Final Fantasy VI. As a huge fan of those games, I’m all over this, but if you have no idea what this video is referencing, scroll below for some less obscure laughs.
In this video, The Cartoon Show has adapted the first chapter from A Game of Thrones: Bran I. This is a follow-up to his first video, which adapted the prologue to that book. If they want to adapt the whole series, I am 1000% on board:
Gared uses “Incoherent Babble” on Ned! I love this so much, but why does Robb’s face look like he’s been stung by an army of bees?
Moving on, YouTuber steve continues his maiden journey through Game of Thrones, watching every episode of the show one at a time…completely out of order. This time, he watches “The Children,” the seminal finale of season 4. Can you imagine how confusing it would be to see Tyrion kill Shae if you haven’t seen the episode with Tyrion’s trial? Now you don’t have to:
On Brienne and the Hound: “These two are getting to second base with each other in the most painful way possible.” Also, I don’t think I knew that his name for Mance Rayder was “Old Snape.”
Finally, the good people of Reddit have put together a couple of alternate takes of key Game of Thrones scenes from this most recent season. First, the more Sam learns about Jorah’s greyscale, the more nervous about the operation he gets:
"At the Citadel, Sam reconsiders treating Ser Jorah after he asks some pre-procedure questions [GIF] from freefolk"
Then, Beric Dondarrion explains why Thoros of Myr’s body is so easy to burn:
"The gang says a eulogy for Thoros [GIF] from freefolk"
We hope this brightens your Tuesday. Back to work.
