Oregon: Jojen Reed

I hope I’m not the only one drawn in lately by the mesmerizing commercials for Oregon. From “You Can, In Portland“ (which showcases the wide variety of food and entertainment options available in Oregon’s biggest city) to this gorgeous Travel Oregon TV spot (which uses Miyazaki-inspired images to make Oregon feel like a mystical fairyland), they make anyone want to travel to the west coast. Had Jojen Reed born in America, I think he’d fit right in with these spots.

While you can’t exactly call Jojen a nature lover or a travel enthusiast by choice, he spends a lot of time in the wilderness, and he’s walked a far way from home. Jojen has green dreams, which grant him visions of the future, after a fashion. These lead him on a journey to the far north of the continent, with Bran Stark, his sister Meera and Hodor in tow.

Without Jojen’s guidance, Bran never would have become the Three-Eyed Raven. Although Jojen didn’t survive long enough to make the return trip, his guidance was integral in changing the natural and political landscape of the whole world.
