Stranger Things comic reveals a missing scene from season 1

Stranger Things season 1 introduced the town of Hawkins, Indiana, and a group of Middle School-age friends who are drawn into a mysterious parallel world called the Upside Down. In the first episode of the series, young Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) is returning home from playing a rousing game of Dungeons & Dragons when he is followed and attacked by a creature from that parallel world, a creature the friends later name the Demogorgon. On the show, Will finds and loads a gun in his family’s shed, and that’s the last we see of him until his friends find a way to bring him back to our reality.

Now, thanks to a new Stranger Things comic from Dark Horse, we finally get to see what happened to Will immediately after he was transported to the Upside Down.

The comic is part of a new partnership between Dark Horse and Netflix. Written by Jody Houser, the first of four issues will be available on September 26. Dark Horse has a preview over on its page that starts to fill in the blanks of this crucial scene. Go check it out.

The comic looks terrific, although I’m glad this scene wasn’t in the show itself. One of the reasons Stranger Things worked so well that first season was the slow burn reveal of the monster and the horror that it was inflicting on poor Will. But as a supplement to the main show, the comic should work beautifully.
