If buying Riverrun is too expensive for you, fear not; instead, you can party like the Starks at the 2018 Winterfell Festival, held on the grounds of Castle Ward in Northern Ireland, a real-life Game of Thrones filming location that has stood in for Winterfell. Located near the village of Strangford in County Down, Castle Ward is the perfect setting for a day of Game of Thrones-related revelry. This year’s fest goes down on September 18.

So just what’s in store for attendees?

  • Learn to shoot bow-and-arrows like a Young Bran Stark.
  • Watch real-life jousting, sword fights and falconry demonstrations.
  • Attend a sword showcase by armourer Boyd Rankin (Mikken), who created some of the iconic weapons for the show.
  • Meet and greet Northern Inuit Dogs Odin and Thor, who played Grey Wind and Summer on the show.
  • Take a tour of the castle grounds, including the area where Jaime pushed Bran out a window. Also, the castle farmyard stood in for the Whispering Wood where Jaime Lannister was captured in season 1.
  • Take in reenactments of scenes from George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire novels.

Additional celebrity guests will be announced later, according to The National Trust, which is organizing the event. Previous guests have included Ian Beattie (Meryn Trant) and Michael Condron (Bowen Marsh).

This sounds like a lot of fun! Tickets are on sale now — they go for £25 for adults and £10 for children 5-16, with a cheaper rate for families.
