Take the Black Live: When will Game of Thrones season 8 premiere?
By Dan Selcke
Welcome to Take the Black Live, the show where we discuss all the latest news about Game of Thrones and A Song of Ice and Fire. My normal cohost Cheryl Wassenaar is on vacation this week, so FanSided editor Josh Hill has stepped up to take her place. Let’s get to talking:

Our topics are as follows:
- It’s all about the TCAs this week, where HBO programming president Casey Bloys spilled all the Game of Thrones news. Let’s start with the big one: when is the final season of the show going to premiere?
- We also learned a bit about the Game of Thrones show HBO is making. When will The Long Night, for that is what we’re calling it, see the light of day? And is it doomed to have a “Game of Thrones” subtitle?
- I go on a quick tangent to explain why a Hot Pie sitcom would be a great idea.
- We talk about the state of HBO in general, as well. Are HBO and Netflix waging war on each other? As HBO produces more content, is it going to become more like the streaming giant? And why is Bloys throwing shade at The Love Boat?
- Remember Confederate, the show David Benioff and Dan Weiss were going to make before they got tapped to make Star Wars movies? Yeah, it doesn’t look like that’s happening.
- We also give away a selection of Game of Thrones figurines. We’ll have more of these giveaways in the near future, so stay tuned.
