Maisie Williams got to keep this key bit of Arya Stark memorabilia

Filming on Game of Thrones is over, and the cast members are looking forward to tackling other projects and boring their eventual grandchildren by showing them props swiped from the set.

Or at least, that last thought has briefly crossed Maisie Williams’ mind. Speaking on The Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw, Williams revealed that a costumer on Thrones is sending her Arya’s brown “doublet jacket” first introduced in season 7, the one that makes her look like a miniature Ned Stark. “I can imagine it being something that I’m like, ‘Oh, I was on this show once upon a time and this was the jacket I wore.’ And my grandkids being like, ‘Please stop.'”

Assuming Game of Thrones endures that long, Williams’ grandkids will be able to watch their grandma cut open a dude’s throat with a dagger; they will have an interesting childhood.

It sounds like the show is sending Williams the jacket on purpose; this isn’t a situation where she’s snuck it off set after the final day of shooting. “In terms of actually taking something, I didn’t take anything other than a lot of dirt in my hair and under my fingernails.” I wonder what happened to the Needle prop?

Anyway, speaking of that final day of shooting, Williams said it was emotional, as we could well imagine:

"I cried a lot. Get the kleenex out. I bawled and I tried to do a speech…I got back to my trailer and I was like, ‘I can’t even remember what I just said.’ I probably just whittled on for, like, half-an-hour…I grew up with these people. It really is like cutting an arm off."

If that pain comes across onscreen during season 8, fans are going to be a mess.

Finally, Williams reacted to a few fan theories currently floating around the internet. Grimshaw and company wanted to see if they could get her to react.

  • Rumor: Jon Snow has a secret twin. Williams: “Where did that come from?”
  • Rumor: Tormund has escaped the destruction of the Wall. Williams: “Oh.”
  • Rumor: Cersei teams up with the Night King. Williams: “Oh, I have seen those pictures.

Like a good soldier, Williams didn’t budge, as we knew she wouldn’t.

Beyond Thrones, you can catch Williams onstage at the Hampstead Theatre in London later this year in I and You. Between that and launching her own social media app, Daisie, hopefully she’s keeping any post-Thrones withdrawals at bay.

If you like, you can listen to the full three-and-a-half-hour Breakfast Show episode here; Williams comes in around the 1:07:00 mark.
