In the first episode of Westworld season two, we learned that the park is located on an island, where the rescue team with ships arrive to save visitors from the androids or artificially created animals. But there is a bit more to this idea of Westworld being on an island–and the theory regarding the ocean floor.

Westworld is on an island in the South China Sea, as we came to learn in the second season, but I think many locations are playing below sea level. You can also reach the island by train, perhaps very similar to the train that runs between Calais, France to Folkestone, England, where you go under the sea canal. I myself think that Westworld is even deeper than The Dead Sea which is about 423 meters below sea level.

However, there is a reason why I believe that many of the places within Westworld are far below sea level–mainly because the park has large hills and mountains. The landscape (or so we assume) is artificially made with large excavators, similar to what we saw in season 1 when Ford was creating a new landscape for a new story. There are different fan theories that the park is on the ocean floor, so perhaps given what we know, the theory is not so far-fetched.

In Westworld, they use the digging machines to reform landscape, but also make underground facilities such as the Forge–which we saw in “Kiksuya” during season 2.  Perhaps several parts of the park are a few hundred meters below the sea level, and the island is surrounded by dunes to stop the sea. This can also create the illusion that you are on the mainland and not an island.

A crazier idea? The highest mountain in Westworld is actually only a few meters above the sea level. I am very curious if we might see an underwater city in season 3 if only to get the park back in the right direction of being the best attraction park in the world.

Delos company must continue to expand the park to attract new visitors and experienced visitors, especially for the fans who thought Westworld was at the bottom of the ocean. Maybe in season 3, we will see a new park similar to Shogun World, perhaps even the lost city of Atlantis!

As far as we know, Westworld is still playing in the 21st century, but I think it’s safe to assume that we’re pretty close to the 22nd century. And with technology progressing so fast who knows what is possible in season 3!
