Ben Barnes is set to appear in BBC One drama, Gold Digger, making it his first role on the BBC in a decade.
Ben Barnes has stolen our hearts in Westworld with his dashing good looks and ever so conflicted character arc that epitomizes tragedy in every sense of the word. And while Westworld is currently on hiatus until season 3, we will still get to see Barnes in other places (thank goodness!).

After nearly a decade, Barnes will be doing an emotional drama thriller on the BBC called Gold Digger starring opposite Julia Ormond, according to Deadline. He will play the character of Benjamin Golding, a copyrighter, who has an interesting past and becomes involved with an older woman named Julia Day, played by Ormond.
Gold Digger will be a six-part drama and is written and directed by Thirteen’s Marnie Dickens. Ormond’s character Julia is a wife and mother who selflessly puts the needs of everyone else before her own and ends up falling for Barnes’ character, Benjamin, who is 25 years younger than her.
The series will explore their relationship, the effect it has on their families and will deal with secrets of the past resurfacing to haunt them. Most importantly, it will dive into whether or not Benjamin is truly a gold digger, or if the love he feels for Julia is indeed real.
Ben Barnes shared his excitement for the upcoming series in a recent interview:
"“I’m thrilled to be joining the exciting cast and creative team in telling this unexpected, modern relationship story with the opportunity to play such a complex and enigmatic character.”"
Executive producer Elizabeth Kilgarriff shared her enthusiasm for both Barnes and Ormond taking on complex roles whose relationship is at the heart of the series. She promises many twists and turns for the series, and honestly, we can’t wait!
