Westworld: Ed Harris to star in Top Gun sequel alongside Jon Hamm

Ed Harris is set to star in the upcoming Top Gun sequel alongside Mad Men’s Jon Hamm!

Ed Harris is taking advantage of the Westworld hiatus in the best way possible. According to Variety, our dear Man in Black is set to star in the upcoming, highly anticipated sequel of Top Gun. The production for Top Gun: Maverick is in full swing and fans of the classic original couldn’t be more ecstatic for its return.

Along with Ed Harris, Jon Hamm (Mad Men) has also been cast into the movie which is gearing up to have the most epic cast ever. Not only have Harris and Hamm joined the fun, but Tom Cruise will return to reprise the role of Pete “Maverick” Mitchell–the fighter pilot. Val Kilmer will also return to play his role of Tom “Iceman” Kazansky and Miles Teller has been cast in the role of Goose’s son.

Top Gun: Maverick will be directed by Joseph Kosinski, who has worked with Cruise previously on 2014’s Oblivion. This is not Kosinski’s first rodeo in reviving an 80’s classic movie as he previously worked on the Tron sequel in 2010.

Kosinski spoke about what the tone of the sequel last year given that a lot has changed in the world of the Navy since the 80’s. He hopes to keep the spirit of the original alive while bringing a realistic approach mimicking the nature of the world in 2017.

Ed Harris’ role has not yet been revealed but rest assured the minute that information is released we will pass it along! Top Gun: Maverick is set to release July 12th, 2019.
