Vote in this ongoing tournament to determine the world’s worst fan base

Fandom is a wonderful thing. It’s why we’re all here, after all. But there are times when it can get out of hand, what with people claiming to use bots to drive down the Rotten Tomatoes score for The Last Jedi and Rick and Morty fans acting the fool at your local McDonald’s. So in the spirit of fun…we think…The Onion contributing writer Michelle Spies has put together a tournament to determine the “worst dedicated fan base” in the world. Meet your contenders, such as they are:
The tournament is already a few rounds in, and I’m happy to report that Game of Thrones fans — objectively the best fandom, obviously — were knocked out early by EDM fans, about whom I know nothing.
The Pod Save America fandom advanced over fans of Super Mario. So…take that, Mario lovers! Or did they win by not moving forward? I dunno; here’s the sweet 16:
