Westworld Woman Crush Wednesday: Our darling Clementine Pennyfeather

Clementine Pennyfeather of Westworld is a woman we can all appreciate for her sweetness–despite all the darkness that lurks in her world. Which is why we salute Clementine as our Woman Crush Wednesday!

On Westworld, if you compare her story to the ones that surround her, she is just as much a victim as Teddy. With this in mind, Clementine’s 5 minutes of empowerment was extraordinary, although short-lived. And it doesn’t hurt that she is incredibly stunning.

Clementine wasn’t just any sex worker at the Mariposa; she was the main attraction. If you looked like you showered frequently enough, you might get a discount on her coveted services. And as the resident seductress, she was most likely Maeve’s best employee and closest friend.

Be that as it may, Clementine’s backstory didn’t initially have sex goddess career goals. She was trying to send money home to a family that thinks she works in a dress shop. Clementine’s family needs the help because they can’t profit off of poor soil where nothing will grow. Somehow a host already subjected to misfortune, even if it is a fabricated story, became prey to some of the most vicious predators of Westworld.

Clementine was a pawn in Theresa’s claim that the reveries upgrade made the hosts capable of violence. It was all a game to take down Robert Ford, but it got Clementine beat up by a host and then decommissioned in the process.

Bernard then uses her as an insurance policy to protect him from Ford during their meeting. Not to mention, Clementine is programmed to standby with a gun since she can kill humans due to Theresa’s hand in her programming.

Ford deactivates Clementine, and she’s left in the back of cold storage with no plans to be restored. When Maeve discovers Clementine, she kisses her goodnight before she exits with her team and a revived Bernard, but she doesn’t make any efforts to have Clementine reinstated.

Maybe it was too much work, and they were pressed for time? In any event, Clementine ends up an inactive piece of machinery lost in the Westworld freezer. That’s when Dolores pieced together an army and brought Clementine back to life.

This time Clementine dons the stone cold face of a soldier as she battles the enemy–Delos corporation. Mostly, its because she’s had a type of robot lobotomy so she doesn’t have much of a personality anymore. She’s still cute, though.

The dream of Clementine the rebel fighter winning over the world that screwed her, however, is cut short. Charlotte Hales takes Clementine and makes her a weapon against all the hosts at the Valley Beyond.

Can we take a moment to reflect on the gloriousness that is Clementine sashaying on her horse towards the Valley Beyond? Sure, Clementine was a weapon of mass viral destruction, but you can’t deny that she is also a vision of beauty dressed in white with hair that just waves at you in the wind.
