Westworld Woman Crush Wednesday: Angela the lionheart
The women of Westworld certainly have a reputation for being fiercely passionate, strong, and inspiring. This week’s Woman Crush Wednesday is Angela, a host that is known for all of those attributes and more. She’s Westworld’s most confident creation and we love her for it!
In Westworld, Angela is one of the characters that appear to be a leader even when she’s working with a client. When we first see her, she is demonstrating excellent customer service skills as she shows William the ropes of dressing up for his first time at Westworld.
While Angela makes it clear that she is at William’s disposal for anything he may need, she carries herself with confidence that conveys that she’s the one in charge.
Angela is one of the first hosts created and accompanied Akecheta in the demonstration for Logan that started the Delos corporation involvement. And let’s just say, she showed Logan more than just the view. What’s also curious about Angela is that she was aware of being a host in both her meeting with Logan and her position in accommodating William as a greeter.
She’s not much a victim as stories go except for the time Teddy killed her in the slaughter before Arnold’s death. After that incident, we never see her suffer again. And yet, she shared a lot in common with Clementine in how as a greeter she needed to please customers and allow them to do with her as they wanted.
Teddy and the Man in Black encounter Angela in their search for Wyatt and think they have another injured party on their hands, but really she was misleading them right into a trap. Because after Dolores’ host revolution, Angela becomes somewhat of a high ranking general in Dolores’ army.
Dolores and Angela share an almost telepathic connection that is undoubtedly BFF goals and brilliant girl power. They are both on the same page on ridding themselves of the oppression that is the Delos corporation and reaching the real world.
Angela believes in the cause enough to sacrifice her own life to ensure that the Cradle is destroyed and Dolores can kill off any attempt that Delos might make of wiping their memories and rebooting their archived stories.
Yes, Angela is beautiful, but her best qualities lie in that she is sure of herself and approaches life with unparalleled fearlessness. I don’t think that her story ended in the destruction of the Cradle. I’d wager that Angela’s control unit was one of the ones that escaped Westworld in Dolores’ purse.
And I would bet money that she’s also the one riding out in Charlotte Hale’s host. The thing that I do know for sure is that Dolores better have saved Angela because that’s the type of partner she’s going to need if she intends to take on the real world in season 3 of Westworld.
