Cast as Arya Stark on Game of Thrones at the age of twelve, actress Maisie Williams has grown up alongside her on-screen self. In some cases, its led to lifelong friendships, but mainly the show’s popularity has forced a new perspective on Williams. Appearing on The Disruptive Entrepreneur podcast, Williams described the moment she realized just how popular the HBO mega-hit was. Attending the season 3 premiere in 2015 at the age of 15, Williams had the following revelation.

"I remember getting out of the car with my mum and there were just like crowds and crowds of people behind barriers and they were all screaming and they all knew who I was. It was that moment that I was like ‘oh, this is pretty big."

That was surely a shocking moment for any teenager, and Williams naturally realized the immensity of it immediately. “I looked at my mum and said: ‘My life is never going to be the same again.'” And indeed it never was. Williams also called the responsibility not to “ruin” Game of Thrones “terrifying,” for which we can only say there’s absolutely no way Williams could ever ruin the show.

Among less personal news, Williams also revealed that her first contract for Game of Thrones was only for six seasons, something that Williams could not have cared less about. “At the beginning, I would have paid them for me to be in it, I was so excited,” she said. And for those six seasons, does that mean Arya was supposed to die or be replaced? Don’t forget, it was her first contract, signed well before anyone knew the series would be picked up for 8 seasons.

Williams also discussed her artist-centered startup the Daisie App, wanting to be a dancer as a child, as well as her home and family life, and you can watch the entire hour-plus podcast above. Enjoy.
