James Marsden to star in Netflix dark comedy series

Westworld’s resident heartthrob and moral compass Teddy aka James Marsden is heading to Netflix!
James Marsden is known for his innocent, loveable role as Teddy on Westworld and while season 2 brought the end of his days abruptly, it doesn’t have to mean that’s the last we’ve seen of his character. However, we have a long wait ahead of us until we found out what’s to become of Teddy in the host afterlife.
Until then James Marsden can be seen and adored in other places such as the upcoming Netflix dark comedy, Dead To Me as Deadline reported earlier this week. He will be joining Ed Asner, Linda Cardellini, and Christina Applegate in Liz Feldman’s (2 Broke Girls) previously mentioned comedy.
According to TV Guide, Dead To Me is being described as a funny, comedic version of HBO’s Big Little Lies and will have a total of 10 episodes in the first season. The story revolves around Applegate’s character, Jen, who is a widow and strikes up a friendship with Cardellini’s character, Judy, who is described as a “free-spirit with a shocking secret”.
Asner’s character is an old man living in an assisted care facility which is also where Applegate’s character works. James Marsden plays Judy’s love interest and is captivated by her spontaneity and free-spirited nature. All in all, the series sounds promising with a solid cast and intriguing cast. If you have Marsden, do you really need anyone else?
With Marsden signed on for this series, it begs the question, will it affect his return or presence on Westworld season 3? Even though Teddy is dead on the show, it doesn’t mean much on a series that kills and brings back characters all the time. Given that there is so much time in between now and whenever production on Westworld would begin, Marsden could potentially tackle both projects with zero to minimal overlap.
Marsden is just one of a few other Westworld cast members to be joining other projects, including Jeffrey Wright, Jimmi Simpson, and Ed Harris.
