Former Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul has joined the cast of Westworld season 3. While there are no details on what type of role Paul will be playing, according to Deadline, the actor will be a series regular. Paul, who won three Primetime Emmys for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series during his stint on AMC’s Breaking Bad as the lovable drug dealing screwup, Jesse Pinkman, took to Instagram to confirm the news:

Paul’s new co-star Evan Rachel Wood (Dolores) congratulated him on the announcement in the most perfect way possible.

Since his memorable turn on Breaking Bad, Paul has taken on a number of roles, but none of them have had the lasting success of that iconic AMC series. The actor did have the lead role as Eddie Lane in Hulu’s The Path, but that show was not picked up for a fourth season, so you know, he’s free to do stuff now.

Paul isn’t the only former Breaking Bad star to step into Westworld, as Giancarlo Esposito who played Gustavo “Gus” Fring, played the role of El Lazo in episode 202, “Reunion.” Now, if we could only get HBO to sign Bob Odenkirk and Bryan Cranston, we’d have a real reunion on our hands…but I digress.

Bringing in a fresh face is a good move by Westworld showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy. The show’s second season was met with a mixed bag of reviews from fans and critics alike, with one of the biggest complaints being clunky dialogue thrown on top of diversionary tactics like timeline hopping just to trick its audience into another mindblowing twist or reveal. Although I’m sure that probably won’t change much in season 3, Paul’s inclusion as a series regular could add a bit of flavor during those long Dolores monologues.

For now, we wait on HBO to make an announcement as to when Westworld will return. Let’s hope it won’t be too long.
