SyFy is going to screen its new science fiction series Nightflyers at the 2018 New York Comic Con, next month. Based on A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin’s novella of the same name, Nightflyers is set in the year 2093 and follows a group of scientists as they fly their spacecraft The Nightflyer toward what they believe will be first contact with an alien.

Of course, this is a story from George R.R. Martin we’re talking about here, so loads of bad things will happen, to be sure. The series is being billed as a horror story in space. Sounds like fun. Here’s the trailer:

The Nightflyers screening will be held on Friday night, October 5 on the Live Stage. SyFy will be hosting a four channel livestream at the New York Comic Con from that spot, where it “will be conducting interviews with actors, writers, directors, artists, and more from across movies, TV, and comics.” Here’s a taste of what you can expect from that:

  • Shazam! star Zachary Levi
  • Spawn‘s Todd McFarlane
  • DC Universe’s Titans cast panel
  • Mortal Engines cast panel
  • Marvel’s Runaways from Hulu, cast panel
  • SyFy’s new series Deadly Class cast panel
  • SyFy’s Nightflyers cast panel
  • Netflix’s Umbrella Academy cast panel
  • Daredevil season 3 teaser

Starz is looking to air a teaser for the embattled season 2 of American Gods at the 2018 NYCC, as well as a possible look at Outlander season 4. CBC All Access will be hosting a panel for season 2 of its hit Star Trek: Discovery, too. Other teasers reportedly making a showing in New York are the Charmed series reboot, The Gifted season 2 from Fox, as well as its Star Trek spoof The Orville.

The New York Comic Con takes place next month, on October 4-7.
