Slovenia: Jorah

Slovenia is one of the most sparsely populated countries on this list, but it’s a perfect fit for a character like Jorah Mormont. To start, this South Central European country has a few things that would appeal to a hopeless romantic like Jorah. Its capital is named Ljubljana, which roughly translates to “The Loved One.” Slovenia is also home to a church on Bled Island where new grooms must carry their brides up 99 steps in order to wed them (now that’s true love). The area is a lovely romantic spot complete with vineyards a view of the Slovenian Riviera.

Jorah has a powerful — and powerfully unrequited) crush on Daenerys Targaryen. He would do anything for her, and has proven time and again that he values her life far above his own. He would be all in on Slovenia as a place for lovers. It’s just too bad that, at least for right now, he wouldn’t have anyone to share it with.

Slovenia also has ties to Jorah’s ancestry. Faithful Thrones viewers may recall that  the sigil of House Mormont is a bear. Slovenia is home to a ton of brown bears, with over 60% of the country steeped in forest for them to enjoy.
