Not long ago, we got first-look photos at Marvel’s first female-led superhero film: Captain Marvel, starring Academy Award-winning Brie Larson as Air Force pilot-turned-superhero Carol Danvers. Today, Marvel Studios has released the first trailer for the film. Check it out:
Captain Marvel will follow the adventures of Danvers after she returns home to Earth in the 1990s with her alien team Starforce. She’s intent on stopping the invading Kree, an alien race bent on wiping out humanity. So it’s not an origin story, although it looks like we’ll learn how Captain Marvel came to be over the course of the film, through flashbacks.
The movie features a pretty impressive roster of actors, including:
- Brie Larson as Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers
- Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury before he became the badass leader of S.H.I.E.L.D.; say hello to age-reduction technology
- Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, the leaser of the invading Skrulls
- Djimon Hounsou as Korath, who appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy
- Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser, who also appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy
- Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson, from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D; does he also get age-reduction technology?
- Jude Law as Mar-Vell / Walter Lawson, who teaches Carol Danvers to use her powers
Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 19, 2019.
